		<description>You are right I would normally use a 100mm macro but because not everyone has a long macro lens I used a more common wide angle because of its close focusing distance. On the 50D (cropped sensor) zoomed into 40mm there is no distortion.</description>

Using a non-destructive adjustment layer (channel mixer, etc.) would give you better control over your B&amp;W conversion rather than Desaturating because the film has a purple tint.
