Step By Step: Enhancing a Sunset in Camera Raw

In this video tutorial I’m going to show you a variety of cool techniques to enhance your sunset images fully in Camera Raw. The main idea is to increase the warm color without losing realism, and for that I will apply a number of general effects (to the image as a whole), and some specific effects to certain parts of the image.

Tutorial Overview

In this video tutorial, we’ll be covering the following:

  • Loading the image into Camera RAW
  • Applying general effects to the overall image – temperature, tint, recovery, fill light etc.
  • Working with individual parts of the image, and using the adjustments brush
  • Finalising the image with camera calibration and colour correction

    Nice tips !
Concernings the tutorial is quite nice but one thing I could say is that it’s fine that you are applying some settings, differents values on colors etc…
BUT that could give an ansome touch to your tutorial is to explain how it is useful to change the green, the yellow or some other settings !
Instead of saying numbers, just give comments, explain how people can use it maybe in some differents tones, something like that :)

    Enjoy !

What settings would you have used in-camera so you wouldn’t have to do all that work with the software?

This is not a simple situation. There is many light on the sky so was really hard to get a good result. However, pros production is needed in any photo, and to explain how to enhance sunset images I needed a picture that wasn’t perfect.
