Final Product What You'll Be Creating
Today we’re on location in St Ives, trying something different with very long coastal exposures. You’ll see the afterglow of the sunset illuminating the sea, movement in the waves, and a beautiful final image!
Video Overview
In this digital photography tutorial we explore shooting long exposures at the edge of the day using only the remnants of light remaining in the sky.
We’ll start off with a few night photography tips and explains the camera setup before a brief tour of the location. Following on, we are then shown some stunning samples of images shot using Airlight or “at the edge of darkness” as Simon likes to refer to it.
We finish off with some Adobe Photoshop training where we are given some tips and techniques for directing your viewers attention toward parts of the image you want them to focus on.

I enjoyed this tutorial and the image editing process did give me a few tips. Thanks for sharing these techniques.
You truly inspired me with your post, so when I was in Italy for the last two weeks I took some airlight shots on one evening. Here’s one of the shots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/linzprod/5096854900
