i think question #2 needs to be re-phrased. all printers (cheap, expensive, high/low quality) can all have a file spooled to it at all ppi resolutions. the descent to high quality printers are the ones that can produce a good print from a file at a low ppi. what you asked is “what level of ppi can a quality printer accept and still produce a good print” but the “correct” answer doesn’t match.

even bad inkjet printers can accept a file with the ppi that is intended as the correct answer.

i’m not even sure this should be a question. all options are technically correct – depending on how you read the question.

    just being picky.

To bad they don’t give you the answers for those of us that are just learning about printing! I know I go them wrong but what are the right answers and why?

Question #12 is misleading to people who are not familiar with color management. When you are calibrating your monitor, it has nothing to do with your printer. You are calibrating your monitor to meet a set of standard color measurements. To “calibrate your monitor to you printer”, you need to first make sure that your monitor is projecting the right colors then you need to create a custom ICC profile for your printer to produce the correct set of colors on a particular type of paper. With the profile you have created, you can soft proof in your editing software of choice to most accurately see what your printer will produce.

Please let me know if this gets corrected.

    Thanks,
    Sam
