I think the answer to question is one is incorrect. 1 p.m. is not the golden hour. At least not where I live.

  • Adam

Really.. 1 pm is Golden Hour huh? Who knew.

  • Ben

I believe the first two answers are incorrect. Question 1. Unless night occurs at like 2 o’clock or so I don’t see how midday is considered the golden hour therefore I believe 8 AM fits best. Question 2. Cloudy White Balance shifts to a higher temperature thus being yellow, not blue. Please correct me if I’m worng

  • Kevin

The golden hour is NOT at 1pm….

  • Randell John

Somehow I don’t think the ‘Golden Hour’ is 1pm in the afternoon. See me after class. lol

    • Rene Valladares

The only question “wrong” i got in the test! All my beliefs are wrong, come to me “golden 1pm hour”

  • Lex

    I’ll second that Randell!

  • http://gems-gc.blogspot.com Izak Theron

Tend to agree Randell. It was the only question I got wrong.

Do check your answer for question 1. 1 pm is not the golden hour, which is typically defined as the hour before sunset or after sunrise. Anyway, the answers are poorly chosen. The golden hour depends on time of year and latitude, and it changes constantly. For me, now, near Seattle, 8 am/4 pm is correct. In mid summer that changes to 4:30 am/9 pm. Big difference

      +1

The 1st question about Golden/Magic Hour is horrible. It would depend on timezone, geography, and time of year. Even given all those variables, 1pm is almost universally the wrong answer. Who wrote this test?!

  • Allan Aylard

I feel cheated, Only got one wrong according to the quiz. 1PM is not the golden hour!
Golden Hour – the hour before sunset or the hour after sunrise
Blue Hour – hour after sunset or the hour before sunrise
Lunch time (since it isn’t ideal for photography) – 2 hours before noon until 2 hours after noon
Therefore the correct question for the answer 1PM is “when is lunch time?”

  • quick edward

Yes, number one is way off. Got all the rest, though.

    Feels good, man.

Sorry for the mix-up on number 1. It has been fixed, though seems to be taking awhile to take effect. And Ben for the cloudy color shift question: cloudy days turn the light blue. Your camera’s cloudy white balances adds yellow to your images to compensate for the blue. I hope this clears that up.

  • Pati

I too only got the first one wrong!

  • David

Is it just me, or do some other people not see the quiz? I’ve taken plenty of tuts+ quizzes before, but every once in a while a quiz does not appear on the page, just an ad and the social tags. Dunno what’s happening here, but it happens to me every so often.

    got 92.31%
    i may sound harsh but

the way the questions are framed is bad

The answer the the first question should be dawn or dusk not 3am ,in my country 3am will be still night time and 5.30 to 6.30 am will be dawn

  • Elsh

I got two wrongs, #1 and #6. Though F/11 for ISO100 and shutter speed 1/125 would not be that bad I think. And again a golden hour is very arguably pointed as 3 a.m. It really depends on many hings. Such a season and altitude. So my answer 8 a.m. could be correct if you are in Canada mountains some times in October?

  • maansi

    Golden hour is 3 am…..how?
    befre sunrise….

  • maraya

Not too sure where 3AM would be considered golden hour but it sure isn’t here. It would be and hour before sunset and sunrise and all day long in the deep winter as the sun is at a very low angle in the sky then…the only harsh light is from the snow and ice later on in the spring when we STILL have winter conditions.

  • bassam

    good

  • Bob DuPre’

I think it was done on purpose to get our email mine said 3am was correct
