Photo Critique #115

Photo Critique #115

Friday Photo Critique is our weekly community project, where we publish a photograph submitted by one of our wonderful readers, then ask you all to offer constructive feedback on the image. It’s a great way to learn more about photography, express your viewpoint, and have your own image critiqued!

Quick Ground Rules

  1. Play nice! We’ve deliberately chosen photographs that aren’t perfect, so please be constructive with any criticism.
  2. Feel free to offer any type of advice – composition, lighting, post-processing etc.
  3. You can also link to photographs that you feel offer a great example of this type of image shot exceptionally well.

Without further ado, here is this week’s candidate for Friday Photo Critique!

Beautifully done. Shame about the distracting dark line that runs down the centre of the picture (not sure what is causing that) – I would be tempted to remove it. You have nailed this otherwise; for a panning shot, the subject is nicely focused. Great action shot.

This is a really nice shot but what happened in the center? It looks like two images stitched together or something scanned out of a book.

Ignoring the center line, this would be an excellent image capturing the motion really nicely, it gives just enough blur whilst still making it possible to see the context.

The center line is a light post (or something similar) that wandered into the shot. It is unfortunate, but this seems like a shot that was taken suddenly, and the photographer couldn’t avoid it.

Really cool image. Something I’d toy with is tweaking the levels a little to bring out some more highlight on the subject. It would blow out the background, but since the foreground is so strong it might be worth the tradeoff to really make the image sing. Or maybe it would ruin it. Can’t say for sure. :-)

I really like this shot. Captured on the spur of the moment. Good use of space ahead of the subject. I’d have given it a bit more contrast using a levels or curve adjustment, but thats just personal taste. Nice shot.

i´d rather tried to sharpen a little bit more the subjects… Probably increasing the shutter speed a few stops up. But it’s really nice!

what a fabulous capture, all round nice capture, well done!

It’s done well… subject is focused and background blur is good enough to tell the story.

Perfect! doesn’t belong to Photo critique.
