Just because you didn’t get to go to that awesome photography conference doesn’t mean that you can’t learn something from the pros! Occasionally, we’ll be featuring a recommended photography lecture or interview on Phototuts+.

If you don’t already know the story of Vivian Maier and how her name has risen to the top of influential street photographers, then go look her up now. She went her entire life without being recognized as a photographic genius, only to have her work discovered in a auctioned-off storage unit. The entire story of Vivian Maier is incredible, and soon they’ll be releasing a documentary about the discovery of her work.

    She was simply extraordinary… even when the pictures depicted her (discreetly or otherwise) she didn’t seem like the photographer but as if she was part of the photograph itself. I also have a tendency to adore humble people, so I am a little positively biased… We are all lucky those negatives were found!
